Upon being summoned to the senior Uganda Cranes team for the first time, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Football Club striker, Nelson Senkatuka has promised to repay the faith vested unto him by the coach, Milutin Sredojevic.

The former Erith and Belvedere Football Club forward boldly awaits to embrace the opportunity with open hands as he takes part in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia;

I am so grateful for the opportunity. It is a true manifestation of working hard at my club and personal training. I will strive to prove my worth for donning the famous Cranes jersey and maintain the slot.

Senkatuka was one of the four strikers named on the twenty man squad to Ethiopia.

His recent form for KCCA F.C in the Uganda Premier League caught the eye of the technical team as he was selected ahead of the CECAFA tournament that kicks-off on Saturday.

He faces direct competition from the current league’s top scorer, Ceaser Okhuti, Frank Kalanda and Erisa Ssekisambu.

The team in Ethiopia is in Group B alongside Kenya, Burundi and Zanzibar and will play their first match on Sunday against Kenya

The second game for Uganda comes on Tuesday, 24th November 2015 in Awassa City against Zanzibar before the last group game on Saturday, 28th November when they play against Burundi, still in Awassa.

The 2014 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup didn’t take place after none of the 12 member countries expressed interest in hosting the tournament on short notice.

Uganda is the record winner with 13 titles followed by reigning champions Kenya with six.
