Somalia 0-4 Tanzania
Tanzania went into their first match of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup against Somalia on Sunday afternoon as overwhelming favourites.
As expected, Tanzania waltzed to a 4-0 victory over the region’s football whipping boys Somalia at the Addis Ababa Stadium thanks to a double from Azam F.C’s talisman Rafael Bocco and Elias Maguli
Tanzania’s early pressure paid off inside tem minutes as Somalia’s Abdinassir Yusuf Ahmed tripped Simon Msuva in the area and Bocco made no mistake from 12 yards.
The Kilimanjaro Stars’ dominance early into the game continued and Msuva cut in to set up Elias Maguli who tapped in to double Tanzania’s advantage.
With two goals down, Somalia started to grow into the game and tried to threaten Tanzania’s backline and the only real chance during the Somalis surge fell to Abdikarim Abdalla but never made it count.
After the halftime break, Somalia’s resistance was broken completely as Maguli and Bocco completed their doubles inside the first ten minutes of the second half.
Tanzania ascended to the top of Group A above Rwanda who had a narrow 1-0 win over hosts Ethiopia on Saturday.
