Uganda Vs Zanzibar – Awassa stadium @ 2pm
Uganda Cranes return to action in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup against Zanzibar seeking redemption after losing 2-0 to Kenya in the opener.
Like Uganda, Zanzibar also lost their first match to Burundi 1-0 and thus will be all out to pick maximum points which make the tie an interesting one.
Ahead of the tie, Cranes Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is expected to ring a few changes from the team that started against Kenya’s Harambee Stars with Ivan Ntege expected to replace Hassan Wasswa Dazo in holding midfield role.
The Serbian is also expected to restore Joseph Ochaya at left back thus adding more attacking options to the team unlike against Kenya where he fielded a record six natural defenders.
The Cranes must pick at least a point to keep their hopes of reaching the last eight alive and so is Zanzibar.
Team skipper Farouk Miya and striker Ceaser Okhuti must up their games following an abysmal display in the first game but must be wary of the threat posed by Zanzibar’s Amy Ali, Khamis Mcha Khamis, Juma Mngwali as well as experienced defender Nadir Haroub who returns to the team for the first time in CECAFA since 2012.
Uganda Cranes Probable XI:
James Alitho (GK), Denis Okot, Joseph Ochaya, Murushid Jjuuko, Hassan Wasswa, Ivan Ntege, Kezironi Kizito, Ceaser Okhuti, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Farouk Miya (C).
