Kenya Sevens squad has been named ahead of the Dubai and Inaugural Cape Town 7s – the first two HSBC World Sevens Series tournaments of the new season.
Kenya Harlequin’s player Willy Ambaka and Top Fry Nakuru’s Oscar Ouma have made the team. Forward Oscar Ouma makes a return to the side after leaving Sri Lanka due to tough regulations that were introduced against foreign rugby players.
Sri Lanka Rugby Union reportedly barred foreigners from featuring for the country’s Dialog League clubs and now Oscar Ouma is back home to play for local team, Nakuru RFC.
Robert Aringo of Impala Saracens, Top Fry Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo, Jeffrey Oluoch of Menengai Cream Homeboys and Kenya Harlequin’s Frank Wanyama are new names on the list and look forward to making their debuts.
According to Shujaapride website, Dennis Ombachi will not travel with the Kenya 7s squad to Dubai due to graduation commitments while captain, Andrew Amonde Opede will feature for the opener in Dubai due to family commitments.
South Africa have also named a strong squad including Francois Hougaard and Juan de Jongh. Hougaard will be making his debut after recently joining the squad on a one-year contract.
