Uganda Cranes left back Godfrey Walusimbi is nearing extension of his stay at Sportspesa Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC.

The ex-Vipers and SC Villa player who joined K’Ogalo at the start of the 2014 season on a two year deal was among the players expected to exit the champions after expiry of his contract at the end of the recently concluded season.

However, a revelation by the Team Manager Jolawi Obondo on the club’s official website stated.

We already agreed on terms with Walusimbi and Musa with two years deal in place for them. We are on with negotiations and will soon finish up the process with the remaining players.

The club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier also added that besides Walusimbi and team captain Musa Muhammad, the team is in talks with other key players; Michael Olunga, Meddie Kagere and Haroun Shakava whose contracts all expire at the end of 2015.

We are in the process of securing the future of our players in preparation for next season and we should be done in good time to submit names to CAF

K’Ogalo will be participating in the 2016 CAF Champions League and many are hoping they can replicate their stellar performance in the premier league at the continental stage and challenge for the elusive group stage qualification. One of the major boosts will be the club’s ability to retain the current squad and the signs are positive with Walusimbi and Musa committing their time to the club until after 2017.
