Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club new captain, Dennis Okot Oola is a big and realistic dreamer.
Six years ago, he was named captain for Gulu United football club during the team’s regional and big league days.
Back then, Okot, a teenager by the time, set a target of having the team promoted to the elite top flight super division.
Indeed, he succeeded with the set aspiration as Gulu United qualified to play in the Uganda Premier league for the 2010/2011 season.
On 4th January 2016, during KCCA F.C’s media and partnership luncheon at Imperial Resort Hotel in Kampala, Okot was officially named captain of KCCA F.C and immediately set the bar;
I want to win the league trophy as KCCA F.C team captain. All my fellow players are well aware of the big prize at stake. We shall work hard for the title
Such is the charisma of the diligent right back who can also play central defence and has at one point in his career being deployed as a central defensive midfielder.
Team manager, Mike Ray Mutebi has already lauded the big hearted player upon his determination, leadership abilities, attitude and mentality.
Mutebi said of the new captain, who replaces Tom Matisko as;
Okot is a leader and has the right attitude to to do the job.
Left back, Joseph Ochaya was appointed to deputize Okot in the captaincy duties.
Recently, the two players were part of the KCCA F.C contingent that won the 14th CECAFA senior Challenge Cup with the Uganda Cranes in Ethiopia.
Other KCCA F.C were Muzamiru Mutyaba, Ivan Ntege, Nelson Senkatuka and Hassan Wasswa Dazo.
For the dream, only the test of time and character stands in between.
