HSBC 7’s World Series: 30th – 31st January 2016 – Wellington 6th – 7th February 2016 – Sydney
Kenya has released the squad of 12 players to represent the country at the third and fourth legs of the upcoming HSBC Sevens World Series.
The first series will take place on 30th to 31st January 2016 in Wellington with the subsequent one coming six days later on 6th to 7th February 2016 in Sydney.
The final 12 were named from the earlier summoned 30 pool of players who have been training ahead of the series. Top Fry Nakuru’s Donald Oluoch will be the sole player making his debut.
Regular skipper Andrew Amonde who missed the first two legs following a family bereavement is back to claim the arm band. Others on a comeback are; Humphrey Kayange who had been part of the training team prior to the Olympic qualifiers held in November last year.
Kenya’s leading try and point scorer Collins Injera is the Vice captain. Willy Ambaka who along with Injera was named in the Cape Town 7s dream team is also part of the squad.
Oscar Ayodi and Eden Agero who missed Dubai 7s but joined the team in Cape Town 7s, as well as Billy Odhiambo, Bush Mwale, Biko Adema, Oscar Ouma and Nelson Oyoo are all in for the two legs.
Three debutants in the first round of the Sevens Series – Jeff Oluoch, Robert Aringo and Frank Wanyama, as well as Homeboyz pair of Augustine Lugonzo and Leonard Mugaisi will miss out on the two legs.
Aringo and Mugaisi however make the non-traveling reserves list alongside Alvin Otieno. Group D: Kenya will contest Pool ‘D’ in Wellington alongside Australia, Canada and Portugal.
