Buffaloes vs. Pirates – Kyadondo, 5:00pm
Both Black Pirates and Toyota Buffaloes are still unbeaten in the Nile special Rugby league and each will be looking to defend their splendid run when the two meet this evening at Kyadondo rugby grounds.
The host have played a game less and lie sixth on the 10-team log while Pirates sit third, just one point behind second placed Heathens and four behind table leaders Kobs.
Being a Friday encounter, Pirates head coach Anthony Kinene expects a few challenges but still tips his charges to get a win over the Kyadondo side.
“It is important to go into the game with the right mindset and attitude, the team will be disrupted slightly because of work and school commitments but we will be ready,” Kinene says ahead of the Friday evening tie.
Pirates have enjoyed a good start to the season that includes a classic 17-17 draw with defending champions Heathens and the return of Marvin Odong is expected to give them a major boost this season.
Ivan Magomu and Conrad Wanyama have been in good form as well and the experience of winger Denis Etuket has given the Legends side the leadership on and off the pitch. But, Buffaloes will not be undermined, the tremendous form of Paul Masendi, Jude Keremundu and Eric Kasiita has seen the Kyadondo side win three in a row and they will be expected to give Pirates a bloody nose.
