Adam Essa Rauf had heaped praise on his Mbarara Rally navigator Dave Sihoka after the Lato Milk sponsored crew successfully completed Mbarara rally last weekend.

The Zambian co-driver guided Essa to a seventh place finish; his first finish in eleven months.

The crew had a composed drive through the 265 kilometre event.

“Dave is much more a teacher than just a navigator.”

“He was new to me but very supportive in everything, he never let me make a mistake,” he said.

“If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have finished as my performance all depended on him from the start,” he said.

Dave Sihoka is a four-time Africa rally champion co-driver who has led two generations to ARC champions.

He shared some comments after the race.

“Essa is alright, a bit stubborn though. He only needs to learn a few things like speed control besides that he has everything and he is fast,” he said.

“What I did was to make sure he finishes this rally in a position that would please him.”

“I controlled him till the last section were I let him do whatever he wanted,” he added.

Mbarara rally is the NRC season opener and hopefully the pair can do much better in the next events starting with Kabale rally next month.
