The match-up between Betway Kobs and Black Pirates was never expected to be an ordinary one and it lived up to that.

It had everything. From Joseph Aredo’s concussion to Ivan Magomu and Cyrus Wathum’s red cards, the action packed encounter at Legends served the crowd to more than just rugby.

Wathum and Brian Ochan switched from Rugby to Kickboxing in the middle of the pitch before the Kobs’ hooker was given his matching orders while Pirates’ full back Haruna Muhamed punched, slapped and kicked opponents at every breakdown point- his slap on Alfred Karekaho is one that stood out.

Oscar Kalyango left the pitch with blood all over his face while Captain, Brian Odong could hardly see with his swollen eye.

“Our indiscipline let us down,” Pirates’ captain Mathew Egeru admitted at the end of the game.

Pirates had a 1-point lead at halftime (8-7) but Kobs were awarded two quick penalties in the second half to take the lead.

Hell broke loose when Ivan Magomu used foul language towards the center referee, he got his matching orders and Pirates were in shambles thereafter.

A Hadji Manano touched down later on and James Ijongat made no mistake as he added the two points to ensure Kobs’ seventh win of the season. Pirates unbeaten run was also halted, Anthony Kinene’s charges had not lost a game this season.
