When it was communicated that the natural grass at the facility would be replaced with synthetic turf, she rushed to the stadium administrative offices to ask for any manual jobs available.

I was unemployed by the time I came to ask the job at the Lugogo stadium.
When I inquired whether there was work to be done and confirmed in the affirmative, I was very happy.
Tumushabe’s normal day starts as early as 6:00 a.m when wakes up to prepare break-fast for her four children and husband.
By 7 a.m, she embarks on a five minute walk to work.
When I reach work, I sign in the book and start with the tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Tumushabe is among the over 50 workers who have been engaged in the Phillip Omondi stadium works since ground breaking in September 2015.
She sings praise of the project that has indeed changed her life for the better.
We have been paid well and the money has supported my family.

The artificial turf scheme at the Phillip Omondi stadium at Lugogo is a project that the world’s football governing body, FIFA offered to FUFA under the less developed federations programme.
The Lugogo project was handled by Dutch based company, Edel Grass represented by expert, Ramon Kuttschreutter.
Upon completion, Uganda will now have two astro-turf playing facilities after the goal project FUFA Technical center at Njeru.
