Many a Ugandan may not be familiar with Uganda’s top flight but it’s a lot more interesting than you might think.
Forget the unpredictable Barclays Premier League in England this season, the real competition is in the Uganda Premier League where only seven points separate table leaders KCCA and eleventh placed Sadolin Paints FC.
Furthermore, it’s incredible that bottom placed Maroons FC are only twenty (20) points adrift of the first round champions with more 15 second round matches to play.
And as the second round gets underway on February 23, 2016 at various venues, its important to note that slight margins anywhere in football is the difference between ecstasy and despair thus making football so compelling.
At the moment, only the Uganda Premier League offers such which prompts URA FC interim coach Kefa Kisala whose side lies fourth on the log to believe it’s anyone’s title.
“When we experienced a period of poor form, a lot wrote us off but I kept asking, who has won it yet and none had the answer.”
The quality of football on show in this league may not be the best, but what could be more exciting than one or two games possibly crowning your team champions or condemning them to relegation.
When you critically look at the log, five teams (7-1) are tied on 21 points and only goal difference and goals scored statistics separate their positions.
In the same vein, fourth (URA FC) and fifth (SC Villa) also share same points; 24 while sixth placed Express FC have a point adrift.
Police who sit 3rd are on 26 points; three adrift of the summit but just two behind second placed Vipers SC who are the reigning champions.
