The 2016 Tanzania National rally season opener is anticipated to expose off thrills as crews aim to initiate the season with a statement.

The title fight this year starts with Vaisakhi rally this weekend on Easter Sunday in Moshi.

Whereas every drivers is targeting the 2016 title, Kawowo Sports takes a look into who the leading contenders will be.

Dharam Pandya/Manmeet Singh

He is the defending champion and this gives him a strong reason to fight not only to retain his title but also register his third TNRC title.
He was on podium in all the rallies he finished last year and he would wish to keep the trend.
With strong sponsorship, Pandya could once again be clear favorite.

Randeep Singh Birdi/Zubayr Piredina

He came so close to the 2015 title just to settle for second overall.
Singh will not just let go of his hopes of the third TNRC title this year.
He will however have a new navigator calling the pace notes for him.

Jamil Khan/Moses Matovu

He is regarded as a bright prospect for success. Despite having the most crashes last year, he posted some fastest times as well.
He has swapped his Subaru N12 for the trending Mitsubishi Evo X.
With the partnership of the ex-WRC navigator Moses Matovu from Uganda, Khan will call for attention from his fellow competitors.

Gurjit Dhani/Shameer Yusuf

Well known for his wild pace. He has one time led and lost two championships. With the acquisition of a monster car; Subaru GBV; Dhani will surely set times his competitors will envy.

Rajpal Dhani/Surinder Sudle

He is very quick always sets fastest times but known for a poor finishing record. Rajpal has upgraded to the latest Subaru GBV. The moment he masters his new car, he will join the list of the title contenders this year.

Tufail Amin/Farhad Mustafa

He is the underdog and also the youngest driver at 25 years. He has posted some fast speeds in his Subaru GC8. His rally win at the end of the 2015 championship  in Morogoro, highlights his potential. Amin is a work in progress and certainly 2016 could see his performance go in one direction up.
