Kenya claimed their first world series rugby title after beating Fiji in the final of the Singapore Sevens 30-7 on Sunday.
The East African nation had twice finished runner-up in tournaments becoming only the second African nation after South Africa to win a World Series leg.
Collins Injera crashed over for Kenya in the first half twice as the side recorded four unanswered tries. More two were added in the final half Jerry Tuwai finding consolation.
Kenya have risen to seventh in the standings after their 22-point haul in Singapore, with Fiji extending their lead at the top to eight points over South Africa with two rounds remaining in France and England.
Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated the side via Twitter, promising to ‘personally’ welcome them back home following their heroics.
