Sadolin Mongers pulled off a rare 17-12 win over title chasing Hima cement Heathens on Saturday to dent the defending champions’ hopes of retaining the title.
In a game where Heathens needed more than just a win to stay in the title race with fierce rivals Betway Kobs, the Kyadondo side struggled to impose themselves onto the game and the visitors punished them in front of their diehard fans.
It is now out of their hands and Heathens will have to rely on Kobs’ result against Toyota Buffaloes next Saturday to see if they still stand a chance in the final game.
Heathens won the title with a game to spare last season after defeating Kobs at Legends and now the Brian Odong led brigade has a chance of avenging that by lifting the title in their enemy’s territory.
Kobs are now seven points ahead of Heathens after collecting 4 points against Pirates, Heathens on the other hand only managed a losing bonus point against Mongers.
