Betway Kobs are the Nile Special National Rugby League champions, this is after a 41-22 win over Toyota Buffaloes on Saturday.
Michael Amolo, Brian Asaba, Brian Odong, Adinan Mutebi, Davis Kiwalabye and Oscar Kalyango all touched down for the visitors in a first half Kobs dominated.
Buffaloes stepped into the pedal in the second half as they attempted a come back, but, the damage had been done earlier.
The hosts were awarded a penalty try as they looked to pull off a comeback. Hima Cement Heathens had earlier pummeled Ezeey Money Rhino to cut Kobs’ lead at the top to just three points and were hoping for a favor from their fellow Kyadondo side.
For Kobs captain Brian Odong, the title is dedicated to the Kobs’ fans who have been behind the team through all kinds of situations.
“We dedicate this title to our fans and thanks for the support,” Odong said after the game.
Kobs have one game to play and this will be against Heathens next Saturday, and that’s when they will be crowned.
Buffaloes will host Rhino in their final game of the season.
Saturday Results:
Heathens 43:18 Rhinos
Buffaloes 22-41 Kobas
