Ndejje 70-44 Rhinos

Nkumba 51-40 Magic Stormers

Ndejje University Angels clearly didn’t miss head coach Walker Obedi in their first game of the season as they rolled over Charging Rhino with a commanding 70-44 win on Wednesday night.

The flamboyant tactician started the 10-game ban that was slapped on him last season for misconduct in his side’s quarterfinal elimination by City Oilers.

While he was available at the YMCA Outdoor court, Obedi was denied access to the playing facility and will go on to miss nine more games of the first round.

But, the Angels cruised and had no problems as they registered their first win of the season.

The Luweero outfit got off to a good start and went into the first quarter break with a 1-point lead (16-15) before stretching it to 10 (35-25) going into the halftime break.

Rhino failed to deal with Ndejje’s quick transition and the third quarter ended with Albert Aciiko’s side trailing by 20 (53-33) and they just couldn’t close the gap in the final stanza as Ndejje eased to a 70-44 start to the new season.

Innocent Ochera poured in a game high 19 points while new addition Sedar Sagamba chipped in with 15 in his first competitive game.

It wasn’t the best of nights for new signing Francis Odom as he only managed 2 points in 23 minutes.

No Rhino player could manage a double figure Joseph Odyek was the top scorer with only 9 points.
