Dusingizimana also asked the President of the mountaineous country Paul Kagame and tweeted to him before starting the record winning event, to bowl a few deliveries at him, but he did not.

We need to build the future of cricket in Rwanda, set up good cricket facilities as well as help improve the sport’s image on the international stage

Andrew Mitchel and British High Commissioner to Rwanda, William Gelling took the last balls to Dusingizimana as the crowd cheered wildly.

Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, who is a huge cricket fan bowled on Wednesday morning accompanied by a host of British investors and the UK envoy to Rwanda.

The Sports and Cultural minister, Julienne Uwacu, Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi,  Amavubi assistant coach, Jimmy Mulisa also bowled.

Participants of the World Economic Forum on Africa in Kigali found some time and took part in the bowling sessions.

The record of batting for the most hours in the nets was previously held by an Indian player named Virag Mare, who set the record of batting for 50 hours in the nets.

Mare had registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by playing at the Mahalaxmi Lawns in Karve Nagar in Pune.

Mare, who had commenced his net session on December 22, faced 2,447 overs (14,682 balls) in exactly 50 hours, five minutes and 51 seconds.

Ahead of this record, English duo Dave Newman and Richard Wells had the record to their names, batting for 48 hours.

It will be interesting to see whether the Guinness record creating achievement will present Eric Dusingizimana the amount he is expecting, to built an international cricket stadium.
