The Uganda Rugby Cranes ran over all the teams in Tier 1B when they hosted the tournament in July last year which saw them earn a place in Africa’s elite category of Rugby playing countries. That is history now though.
The team is in Tier 1A and it remains to be seen if they will still be at this level before the year ends.
Namibia, Zimbabwe and neighbors Kenya will be in Uganda’s way but coach Robert Sseguya is confident the team will be in good shape to compete with anyone.
“We are preparing and we should be able to take on anyone when the time comes,” he told Kawowo Sports.
The team has been going through drills led by Sseguya himself and Anthony Kinene as they wait on head coach John Duncan who was with the team last year when it qualified.
“We are working on our conditioning to be in shape and we know we can stay in Tier 1A, that will be our target,” Sseguya added.
The busy schedule will start with a duel with rivals Kenya in the Elgon Cup as Uganda look to defend the title they lifted at Legends last year.
