AFCON 2017 Qualifier (Group D): Saturday, 4th June 2016

  • Botswana Vs Uganda – Francistown Sports Complex
  • 4 p.m Local time (5 p.m East African Standard Time)

Botswana Zebras have intensified their preparations for the AFCON 2017 group D qualifier against Uganda in Francistown.

Under the management of British born coach, Peter Butler, the Zebras are in residential camp with sessions for the entire squad at the Francistown sports complex facility.

This followed their 2-1 victory in the international build up match against Lesotho played in Serowe.

Orapa United attacking midfielder Onkabetse Makgantai netted a brace before defender Basia Makepe got the consolation for Lesotho.

Butler, who watched Uganda fall to Zimbabwe in Harare 2-0 is well aware what he is polishing and how.

Butler said after the Lesotho game;

Good workout for us and opportunity to give different players game time and more especially Ofentse ‘Size 10’ Nato who got 45 minutes.

All in all, good to blow the cobwebs away and get back into competitive action, I thought Lesenya Ramoraka was outstanding at left back

The Zebras are scheduled to host Uganda in the 2017 AFCON qualifier at the same venue on the 4th of June 2016.

When the two countries faced off in the first leg at Nelson Mandela National stadium, Kampala Brian Umony and Geofrey Massa scored two first half goals to give the Uganda Cranes a 2-0 home victory.
