AFCON 2017 Qualifier (Group D): Saturday, 4th June 2016
- Botswana Zebras Vs Uganda Cranes
- At Francistown Sports Complex
- Kick-off: 4 p.m local time (5 p.m East African Standard Time)
A technical delay by the state owned Zimbabwe Airlines forced many passengers who had booked the morning flight from Harare International Airport to Bulawayo postpone to the afternoon shift.
Severely affected among others was the Uganda Cranes contingent headed for Francistown via Bulawayo.
Eventually, team players and officials were booked on the afternoon flight that left at 3 p.m local time (4 p.m) in Uganda for the one hour journey to Bulawayo, south of Zimbabwe over 445 KM from the capital, Harare.
At Bulawayo Airport, they were received by FUFA advance party head, Decolas Kizza (also the Federation financial director) who had traveled a day earlier to beautiful though chilly city, the second largest after Harare.
The team is expected to conduct an evening session in Bulawayo, acclimatization training since the City shares similar weather conditions to Francistown, about 180 KM away.
In Bulawayo, they are accommodated at Rainbow Hotel from where they will depart on Friday morning for the border town of Plumtree, about 92 KM away.
They will train at Hartsfield in Bulawayo on Thursday evening.
The team is set to train at Francistown sports complex match day venue on Friday evening as permitted by the CAF and FIFA competitions.
Uganda is second behind Burkina Faso in group D with 7 points, same points as the West Africans.
Botswana has six points and Comoros, who host Burkina Faso this same weekend have three points.
