Uganda Cranes’ historic 2-1 away victory over Botswana at the Francistown Sports Complex temporarily put them top of group D in the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers.
William Luwagga Kizito and Awucho Khalid scored for Uganda while second half substitute, Onkabetse Makgantai had leveled for the Zebras.

Dennis Onyanyo (G.K) – 7.5
The Mamelodi Sundowns player has never disappointed. He was top class with good defence organization. Conceded a soft goal from Onkabetse in the 52nd minute.
Denis Iguma – 7.5
Assisted Aucho for the second goal. He was solid defensively and useful in attack.
His only blemish was that first half deliberate hand ball that led to a caution.
Joseph Ochaya – 6.5
Had great runs and stops down the left flank.
Isaac Isinde –8.5
Arugably the top performer for Uganda on the day. He thwarted the lanky Joel Mogorosi and contained Makgantai threat and pace.
Murushid Jjuuko – 7.5
Another great performer on the day. He continues to mature match after match in national colours.
Did well to contain the pressure from the pressing Botswana forwards.
Hassan Wasswa Mawanda – 8
One of the best performers for Uganda on the day. He battled well for possession and commanded the midfield perfectly with Tonny Mawejje.
Aucho Khalid – 8.5
The Gor Mahia midfielder, who is destined for a dream move to Rangers in the Scottish league capped his amazing performance with the winning goal off Iguma’s well chipped ball.
Tonny Mawejje – 7
Combined well with Khalid and Miya in the first half. Looked out of steam in closing stages
Faruku Miya – 6.5
Passed late fitness test to display an average performance. Had a few blocked attempts at goal. He fought and passed well the ball.
William Kizito Luwagga – 8
Scorer of the opening goal from Mawejje’s chip, Luwagga has matured of age. He was a total menace in the flesh of the opposition.
Geofrey Massa – 6
Team captain who led the ship to victory. Had a quite game before being replaced by Emmanuel Okwi.
Subs: Emmanuel Okwi – 5
Replaced Massa after 70 minutes. He chased well to put the pressure up front. Had a goal bound shot blocked.
Godfrey Walusimbi – 6
Replaced the tired legs of Faruku Miya after 65 minutes.
Picked a caution for a foul on Lesego Galenamotlhale. He helped to give team width at the left flank and support to Ochaya defensively.
Yassar Mugerwa – 5
