The long awaited impasse between the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and the National Council of Sports (NCS) has finally been resolved thanks to FIFA intervention.

In a closed door meeting held at the Ministry of Education and Sports, attended by parties from FUFA, NCS and FIFA delegates Mr. Luca Nicola (Manager Member Associations) and Mr. Rolf Tanner (Legal Counsel), international body gave leeway to FUFA to register.

The FA had objected to NCS regulation of registering under Trusteeship insisting it’s against the FIFA statutes and that it would prompt the international body to ban Uganda.

The national sports governing body had earmarked June 30th as the deadline for locking out all sports federations that hadn’t registered but following numerous meetings with the government and subject to July 12th meeting, NCS decided to extend the deadline for FUFA.

FUFA had promised to register as long as FIFA clears them to do so and according to its communication manager Ahmed Hussein, they had fulfilled all requirements under NCS.

FUFA has fulfilled all requirements under the new guidelines from NCS by submitting the necessary documents.

In a new development, the federation on its official website confirmed they are to submit more documents to NCS before end of the month.

FUFA will submit additional documents to those that were earlier delivered to the NCS on 29th July, 2016 and Government has also agreed to support FUFA in this cause.”

FUFA was represented by the FUFA President Moses Magogo, First Vice President Justus Mugisha, Third Vice President Denis Mbidde, Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson and Legal officer Mr. Denis Lukambi while the Government delegation was led by Minister of State for Sports Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi and included Omara Apita Commissioner Physical Education, Onyik Bosco Chairman NCS, Nicholas Muramagi General Secretary NCS and representatives from the Solicitor General’s office, among others.

The deadline for registration has also been extended to Wednesday 10th August, 2016.
