Former Harambee Stars goalkeeper and celebrated coach, James Aggrey Siang’a has died in Bungoma town after succumbing to Diabetes after a long battle.
According to Bob Oyugi, an official of Kefoca confirmed the death of Siang’a, who formerly played for Gor Mahia, Luo Union and national team Harambee Stars as a goalkeeper.
As quoted by Goal Kenya, Oyugi noted with distress;
He died at midnight on Friday. We have lost our very own Siang’a.
The former international died on Friday night according to family members.
We are waiting for more information from them on the way forward. May his soul Rest in eternal peace.
Siang’a played as a goalkeeper and turned out at international level for Kenya.
He featured for Kenya at the 1972 African Cup of Nations finals. Siang’a also managed Kenya between 1999 and 2000 before he switched allegiance to Tanzania Taifa Stars in 2002.
He guided Tanzania to the final of 2002 CECAFA Senior Challenge losing 3-2 to Kenya.
He is best remembered for turning down the opportunity to coach the Kenya national team again in the year 2004.

Siang’a transferred to Tanzania, where he managed the national team Taifa Stars in 2002.
Siang’a also managed Tanzanian club sides Simba SC and Moro United as well as Express in Uganda.
In October 2004, while at Moro United, Siang’a was approached to become the manager of Taifa Stars again, but he refused.
Siang’a also coached Mtibwa Sugar in Tanzania before becoming coach of Gor Mahia in Kenya.
He was later to be inducted into the prestigious Kenyan football Hall of Fame.’
