The Eastern Uganda Sports Press Association (EUSPA) on Thursday convened in Mbale to recognize the outstanding sports personalities for the months of June, July, August and September 2016.
 
This was at the body’s monthly meeting held at Masaba Complex Hotel in Namboko Hotel, Mbale district.
 
A total of six sports personalities were awarded with medals and certificates of merit for EUSPA sports personality of the different months.
 
June:
 
Defender Frank Wananda scooped the June monthly award. He was outstanding in the game played between Eastern select against Uganda Cranes in Mbale stadium . 
 
July:
 
Table Tennis player Halima Namboozo won July. She was voted after her excellence performance during the National senior secondary schools games held in masindi.
 
Nambozo had a silver medal as well as the Most Valuable Player accolade that propelled her side Mbale Progressive school to emerge the winner in The Table Tenis Events for the month of July 2016.
 
August:
 
Football coaches Ibrahim Maruti and Mansoor Kintu won in the the month of August having won their their all 5 pre season games 2 home and 3 away respectively.
 
September:
 
Meanwhile, Isa Mwiri won opposed in the month of September. He emerged the top scorer in the recent concluded EUSPA -Mbale Kids under 14 boys Tournament with 8 goals and the scoring the only two heart tricks of the EUSPA Mbale Kids League Tournament.
 
Commendations:
ESUPA also commended a number of people for outstanding performances over the four months.
 
Drake Ndifuna of young Athletes and Sam Okiring (best player and Goal keeper of the EUSPA-MKL Tournament respectively),  Mbale sky for wining Under 14 city tyres Annual regional football event, Mbale Rugby Team for qualifying into the national Rugby league, Aziz Nambobi Kataka fc Mid fielder , for scoring Home winning goal from a penalty first ever historical fufa big league home goal earning his side Kataka fc  three points and firt win, Halimah Nambozo, Ritah Nankumisa and Mbale Progressive for wining Gold medals and trophy during the EASS sports and Games Eldoret 2016 Events, Faruk Miya Lone Goal helped Uganda Cranes beat Comoros 1-0 to qualify for the 2017 Afcon the first time since 1978 and Fazila Nabwire. Lone goal for She cranes to qualify into semi finals where cranes were stoped during the historical women CECAFA 2016 In Uganda.
 
ParalOlympic silver medalist, David Emong was also commended for winning Uganda her first Paralympics medal in the men’s T46 finals at the Rio Paralympics Games.
 
According to ESPA chairman, Godfrey Kakungulu Seruinda, the spirit of rewarding the best sportsmen over the previous month is to encourage many in the sports industry.
