AFC Leopards 0-2 Gor Mahia

Meddie Kagere and Enock Agwanda scored in the second half as Gor Mahia beat rivals AFC Leopards 2-0 at Nyayo to keep their faint hopes of winning a fourth successive league title.

In an entertaining game played on a sunny Sunday afternoon, K’Ogalo, who had Ugandan international Godfrey Walusimbi playing midfield were the better side in the first half but were lethargic in front of goal.

Jacques Tuyisenge hit the cross bar with a header before he directed Kagere’s goal bound ball out for a goal kick.

At the other end, Paul Mungai Kiongera had a short from over 40 yards miss target by inches.

The second half was more of the same with the Green Army the better side but had to wait till the 65th minute for the first goal.

Tuyisenge was brought down in the area and from 12 yards, Kagere sent goalie Lucas Indeche the wrong way and the travelling fans into frenzy.

The icing on the cake came in the 83rd minute as substitute Agwanda, a replacement for midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth scored the second with a brilliant tap in off Eric Ouma cross.

At the end, it was Ze Maria’s side that didn’t only take home three points but bragging rights as well.

With Tusker drawing against Nairobi City Stars, second placed Gor Mahia cut the lead at the summit to four points with three games including one against the Brewers.

Tusker, coached by Ugandan tactician Paul Nkata are on 52 points while Gor Mahia are on 48.
