FUBA Playoffs: Power 54-69 KIU Titans (Series level at 2-2) KCCA 71-69 JKL (KCCA win series 3-1)

Forward Michael Makiadi was ejected after a second technical foul as Power failed to put their semifinal series with KIU Titans to bed.

With elimination looming, KIU started with guns blazing as Sudi Ulanga’s hot hand saw them run over the 5-time champions with a 69-54 win in game 4 of the semifinal series.

Power barely turned up in the first two quarters and only managed 10 points before halftime as KIU cruised despite Ivan Lumanyika missing to execute on so many occasions.

Chris Omanye, Francis Sokoraza and Etienne Kazungu all made it look easy as Lumanyika collected the boards to stop Power’s quick transition game.

Things changed from bad to worse for Power after forward Makiadi was ejected. The first T was for a collision with a referee which was adjudged to be intentional while the second was for contesting a call in the second half.

Ulanga led the Titans with a team high 15 points while Samuel Agutu came off the bench to score 11. Lumanyika and Kazungu took charge of the boards with 13 and 11 respectively while Omanye had 7 points and 9 rebounds on the night.

Joseph Ikong scored a game high 18 points while Fammy Ssebatindira and Makiadi had 10 and 9 respectively.

The two sides are now tied at 2-all and face off in the decisive game on Friday night.

In the ladies’ category, Jamilah Nansikombi had the chance to win it for JKL Dolphins but failed to convert 2 free throws and KCCA advanced to the finals.

JKL had force overtime after Kenyan point guard Grace Wanjiku scored 3 free throws to keep the new side in the game.

KCCA will now take on defending champions UCU Lady Canons in the 7-game final series.
