[/media-credit] Erisa Ssekisambu celebrates his winner against Vipers last season at Maroons

Erisa Ssekisambu has always been an unsung hero wherever he has played.

Now at Vipers, the ex-SC Villa, URA and Express forward was instrumental as the Venoms lifted their maiden Uganda Cup trophy.

Ssekisambu set the ball rolling in the finals against Onduparaka with the opener in the highly entertaining match at Nakivubo stadium and also scored 16 league goals for the club in the league.

The reigning Most Valuable Player in the 2016 Uganda Cup also ended the year with a top scorer’s feat as he jointly shared the boot with fellow nominee, Muhammad Shaban – both netted 7 goals in the competition.

He missed taking the MVP award for the Uganda Premier League by a whisker and with the competition heightened in the general awards, it remains to be seen how he will fare but he has a genuine shot at the prize without doubt.

The striker was also part of the historic national team squads that ended the 39 year wait for an appearance at the Africa Nations Cup finals due in Gabon, early next year.
