
Uganda Cranes and Colorado Rapids midfielder Mike Azira arrived in the country on Monday night from the United States of America.
Azira who had a sensational season with the Rapids set foot in the country at 10:30 P.M.
He was welcomed by the Uganda Cranes team manager, Chrispus Muyinda who drove him straight to the team’s base at Serene Suites Mutundwe where the rest of the players are camping.
If all goes as planned, Azira will be part of the team’s training sessions on Tuesday at the IUIU Girls’ campus in Kabojja.
“Azira is welcome back home. He remains a special player to the team with the rest of the teammates. He will start training together with the other players” Muyinda told Kawowo Sports on Monday night.
He becomes the seventh midfielder to join the team after Tonny Mawejje (Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur, Iceland), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (Vipers), Muzamiru Mutyaba (KCCA), Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi (Gor Mahia), Abdulmalick Vitalis Tabu (SC Villa) and Khalid Aucho (Baroka, South Africa).
Aucho was rested in Monday’s training but he is expected to train on Tuesday.
