Ghana attacking midfielder Christian Atsu is wary of the threat posed by Uganda Cranes at the 2017 Africa Nations Cup.

The Black Stars open their campaign in Gabon against Uganda on January 17 and the Newcastle winger is aware of what Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s side can bring to the table on the day insisting they are no longer under dogs.

“Uganda Cranes are not an underdog anymore,” he said as quoted by Starr Sports. “They have played against all those teams in the group but we are not scared of them but they have a very good defensive set up which could worry us,” he added.

The former Chelsea midfielder who has faced The Cranes before reveals the 1978 finalists are organised as a team both on the offensive and defensively insisting they qualified on merit and thus will compete not participate at the Gabon finals.

They have a very good team both offensively and defensively. The Cranes qualified on merit therefore the players are working hard to get to the AFCON and are prepared to compete rather than participating”

Ghana and Egypt are favourites to reach group stages from group D that also has Uganda and 1972 finalists Mali.
