Uganda Cranes’ forward Yunus Junior Sentamu will play for a new club for the second half of the season after departing F.C Ilves Tempere.

Sentamu, a revelation at the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa revealed to Kawowo Sports that at the time being he is a free agent ready to embark on business elsewhere.

At the moment, I am a free agent. Soon in the coming days, I will announce my new club

Sentamu joined Ilves at in June 2016 and played 13 games for the club, scoring three goals.

Notably at Ilves, he scored a goal against Spanish side Valencia when the club was celebrating 75 years of existence.

He was among the 23 man squad that represented Uganda Cranes at the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Unfortunately, Sentamu did not make any starting appearance nor come off the bench in any of the three matches played.

In fact, on the eve of the final Group D match against Mali, he was denied training with the rest of the group citing ‘indiscipline’.

He told Kawowo Sports that he is remorseful for what transpired in Gabon and eyes a new lease of life.

I am sorry for what happened that side (at 2017 AFCON in Gabon). I am working for a fresh new chapter in life. I want to shine again in my career.

Sentamu is grateful for the chance presented to be part of the Uganda Cranes’ squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

He testifies that the journey has been a great learning experience.

I am delighted having been part of the Uganda Cranes squad in Gabon. This is a great and historic tournament.

Personally, even if I did not play any game, I learnt so many things that will not leave me the same. I also discovered, Uganda Cranes as a team has a lot more things to learn so that we become a better side.

His parent club in Uganda, Vipers Sports Club has been reported to be interested in recapturing the goal poaching exploits in the young forward.

Besides Vipers, he has received offers from Kenya, clubs in Finland and Ajax Cape Town in South Africa.

Sentamu is weighing options in consultation with his agent.

He has previously played at Vipers, AS Vita, CS Safixen and lately FC Ilves.
