CHAN 2018 Qualifiers: Uganda Cranes starts journey with either South Sudan or Somalia

CHAN 2018 Qualifiers:

First Round: Uganda Cranes Vs Winner South Sudan/ Somalia

• First leg (14,15, 16 July 2017) & Second Leg (21, 22, 23 July 2017) – South Sudan or Somalia will host first leg

Second Round: Winner Uganda/ South Sudan/ Somalia Vs Winner Rwanda/ Tanzania

• First Legs (11, 12, 13 August 2017) & Second Legs (18, 19, 20 Augus 2017)

To participate at CHAN 2018 edition in Kenya, the journey for Uganda Cranes on paper looks light.

The record time CECAFA kings will play the winner between South Sudan and Somalia (who face each other in preliminary round) in the first round before facing the winner between Tanzania and Rwanda in the second round.

The preliminary round action will take place in April before the first and second rounds will follow in July and August respectively.

The countries were drawn in zones (North, West A, West B, Central, Central East and Southern) depending on location.

Uganda Cranes has played at the all the previous CHAN editions held in Sudan (2012), South Africa (2014) and Rwanda (2016).

Kenya as the host nation will not take part in the qualifiers. Rwanda last hosted the tournament in 2016 and DR Congo won the championship.

CHAN is only played by players who are currently playing in the respective domestic leagues.
