Robert Odongkara lays the ball in Joseph Ochaya's path

Cote D’Or (Seychelles) 0-2 St George (Ethiopia)

Robert Odongkara has been St George first choice goalkeeper for the past five season

Ethiopia’s record league winners, St George kick started the 2017 CAF Champions League expedition with a smooth ride in Seychelles following a 2-0 win Cote D’Or on Saturday.

This was during the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round action  played under windy conditions.

Usual suspect Said Saladin netted both goals at the Stade D’Amitie in Praslin town of the island nation.

Saladin opened the scoring as in the 25th minute of the game before he wrapped up the business in with 30 minutes left on the clock.

Cote D’Or rallied to at least work for a goal but all efforts fell on a dead end.

Their closest moment for the Seychelles outfit was Iddi Babu’s 70th minute header that kissed the woodwork before bouncing back for Odongkara.

The return leg will be played in seven days in Ethiopia at Hawassa International Stadium, 275km south of the capital, Addis-Ababa.

St George is home to two Ugandans – midfielder Yassar Mugerwa and goalie Robert Odongkara.
