Allan Okello was known to few but announced himself to the country on his senior debut as KCCA FC whipped Onduparaka 7-0 in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday.

The attacking midfielder, who turns 17 in July shrugged off the pressure turning in a man of the match performance with a well taken hat-trick and assisting on one occasion on the memorable afternoon.

Okello credited the performance he put up to manager Mike Mutebi who handed him his debut and was ultimately delighted with the points for the team.

He told the club website: “I’m happy for the performance I had against Onduparaka but most importantly, the team was able to get three points.

“I want to thank the coach for giving me the opportunity to play. It is a dream come true for me because I have always dreamt of playing for KCCA Football Club. The coach has always believed in me and always encouraged me to work harder which has helped me to grow in confidence”

Okello, who was on the bench for the CAF Champions League ties against CD Primeiro de Agosto and the league game against BUL,  praised teammates who have been ‘hospitable’ to him.

“I have had overwhelming support from the teammates despite being a new player on the senior team. They have all been hospitable to me and that has helped me settle in easily.”

The youngster was the MVP of last season’s FUFA Juniors League and is one of the six players that KCCA FC incorporated into the senior team from the junior side at the start of the second round.
