The Silverbacks were drawn in Group B at the FIBA Africa Zone V qualifiers alongside Somalia and Burundi on Saturday.

They get the push for AfroBasket return today against Somalia and head coach Mandy Juruni wants his charges to focus.

“(There’s) nothing easy,” he said. “Somalia has only foreign-based players from Canada, America and Australia, so we have to focus and respect them,” he added.

On paper, Uganda’s group looks easier and are expected to advance to the semifinals but will have to break the Burundi jinx.

“Uganda has never beaten Burundi before but I believe we have been growing as a nation, We have lots of confidence and we want top the group,” Juruni told Kawowo Sports.

The top two teams in the group will cross with those of Group A in the semifinals and the finalists will qualify for AfroBasket in Congo Brazzaville.
