Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed an international friendly match between Uganda Cranes and Senegal on 6th June, 2017 in Dakar.

Uganda Cranes will play the game enroute Cape Verde for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that could be played between 9th – 11th June 2017 (dates designated by CAF for the qualifier).

The international friendly match was first talked about by Micho who expressed gratitude upon having landed such a high profile build up match.

The last time Uganda faced Senegal was in a 2014 World Cup qualifier playoff in Morocco in 2013 and the West Africans won 1-0.

FUFA Communications Manager, Ahmed Hussein, confirmed the development on the federation website;

It will be a good test for our players before taking on Cape Verde.

We know the value of such matches before playing competitive games where points are at stake.

We are very grateful of the Senegal Football Federation (SFF).

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic will be hoping to build on a great story in the 2017 Nations Cup qualification campaign into the 2019 Cameroon Project.

Led by Aliou Cisse as head coach, Senegal will bank on the experienced players as Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye, Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli), Henri Saivet (Saint Etienne), Cheikhou Kouyaté (West Ham) among others.

Senegal shall be preparing to play against Equatorial Guinea in Dakar.

FUFA will meet with the Cranes technical team for further preparations of the upcoming international engagements including the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers where Uganda was drawn in Group L  with Cape Verde, Tanzania and Lesotho.

On April 23rd 2017, the national team will also play against West Nile select team in Paidha, Zombo in a test match.
