Man of the match, Benjamin Ochan has revealed why he decided to take the final penalty against El Masry.
The experienced goalkeeper put up a historic performance saving two penalties before dispatching the final one as KCCA progressed to the group stage of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
“I was supposed to take the 4th penalty and Majwega to go for the last one,” revealed Ochan.
But Geoffrey (Sserunkuma) signaled to me to wait maybe because he saw my confidence had grown and I would have the guts to take the final penalty.
Ochan saved Said Elsaid and Ahmed Monsour’s efforts and scored the winner but still hails teammates for the team effort insisting his saves would be nothing without them.
First of all I will say glory to God. We are finally there. We have made history. I wouldn’t want to be singled out but I believe it was a team effort from the players, the technical team and the supporters back home
Ochan joins the elite of Ugandan goalkeepers, Jamal Salim (El Merriekh), Robert Odongkara (St. George) and Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns) in the group stage at the contnent, although the trio will play in the CAF Champions League.
