FUFA Big League: Tuesday, 25th April 2017
- Maroons Vs Kyambogo – Prisons Stadium, Luzira (4:30 p.m)
FUFA Big League side Maroons Football Club is on the brink of being promoted back to the Uganda Premier League.
Only a draw in their home game against Kyambogo Football Club will see the Uganda Prisons run side bounce back to the top tier league.
The game shall be played on Tuesday at the Prisons stadium in Luzira.
This fixture was supposed to have been played three weeks ago but was pushed ahead after Kyambogo claimed their first choice goalkeeper had died but he was later confirmed to be alive.
Maroons have led the Elgon Group of the Big League for long spells of the season.
At the moment, they are three points ahead of second placed Ndejje University with a game in hand as they now have 42 points from 21 games played.
Asaph Mwebaze’s charges will optimally put the enviable home advantage to full use on a fortress where they have not lost any game this year.
Mwebaze, who has recently graduated with a Masters in Public Administration and Management will call for calmness and collective duty as usual as they take on a stubborn Kyambogo outfit.
Already relegated, Kyambogo shall be playing merely for pride.
On colour players as Patrick Kaddu and Pius Obuya, who on Sunday played for the Uganda Cranes against West Nile select team will have to pass late fitness tests to feature in the game having returned on Monday afternoon.
However, usual suspects Allan Anguyo, Solomon Walusimbi, Musa Ssali, Felix Okot, Yahaya Luti, Eddy Kapampa, goalie Jamal Maliyamungu, among others will also be tasked for a big performance in the game.
A point earned in that game will be good enough for Maroons to bounce back after being relegated at the end of 2015/16 season.
Rwenzori Group leaders Masavu became the first side to be promoted to the top flight this season.
