Saint-George goalkeeper Robert Odongkara can’t wait to face compatriot Denis Onyango when his side face Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League but must recover in time for duel.

The African champions host the Ethiopian giants on Saturday May 13, 2017 in the opening match in group A with a possibility of two Ugandan top goalkeepers facing each other.

“I am still injured but hopefully I will be fit for the encounter,” he told Kawowo Sports. “The game is as any other game but it will be exciting to play against a close friend and a compatriot,” he added.

Away from facing Onyango, the Ethiopian side that reached the group stages of the competition for the first time targets a slot in the quarter finals in a tough group that has AS Vita of Congo and Tunisia’s Esperance.

It’s a stage every player loves to feature in and would love to move to the biggest stage of football. Through determination and hard work, nothing is impossible.

Onyango and Odongkara

The two custodians have a lot in common about their so far glittering careers. Odongkara replaced Onyango at SC Villa when the latter left for Saint-George.

He then replaced the same man at the Ethiopian side when he moved to the PSL with SuperSport United.
