Before Soana skipper Francis Olaki found the back of the net in the 75th minute during their slim 1-0 home win against BUL at Kavumba Recreational stadium on Tuesday, he had missed an avalanche of goal scoring opportunities.

In the aftermath of the victory during their last home game this season, Olaki attributed perseverance and the never say never attitude for the three points earned at home.

In an exclusive interview shortly after the game, Olaki shared his views;

Personally and the rest of the teammates, we did not give up.

Even when we got close and close to scoring, we did not rest.

It is this perseverance that handsomely rewarded us.

Olaki raced onto a long ball played from over 50 yards towards the goal area by Misi Katende, goalie Brian Bwete hesitated to collect the ball before the poacher pounced.

It was Olaki’s third after yet another injury plagued season that has restricted him to a handful of games.

He then saluted the rest of the teammates and technical wing as well as the fans for the endurance.

We have all worked as a unit.

As we look towards the Express game on Saturday,  we reflect towards another the season past as a projection for the upcoming campaign.

Soana’s win left BUL cursing as they are still entangled in the relegation politicking and mathematics ahead of their last game with Onduparaka.

BUL requires maximum points at home as they host Onduparaka to stand any chances of survival.

Already, JMC Hippos and Sadolin Paints have been relegated to the FUFA Big League.
