Following the successful opening week of the 2017 Airtel Buganda Masaza football tourney, match day 2 returned on Sunday with eight fixtures across the Kingdom.
Three time winners Gomba were the biggest winners on the day defeating last year’s semi-finalist Busujju 5-0 at their dreaded Kabulasoke play ground.
Record signing (from holders Buddu) and sharp striker Joseph Jjanjali scored a brace each in the well attended game.
Joshua ‘Letti’ Lubwama, John Musasizi and an own goal from the visitors wrapped up a memorable day for Gomba who are eyeing their 4th title since 2004 where the games were revived.
Kyaggwe – last season’s losing team in the third place off – won convincingly 3-0 at the Bishop Brown play ground in Kayunga.
Ssingo under Shafik Bisaso and Felix Ssekabuuza as coaches defeated Allan Kabonge’s Buwekula 2-0 at the Mityana Ssaza stadium.
Yusuf Saaka and Brian ‘Benteke’ Lubega were on target for the 2015 winners.
In the heart of the capital city, Kampala, Kyadondo overcame visiting Mawokota on the astro turf of the Phillip Omondi, Lugogo.
Mawokota were thus condemned to their second defeat in the campaign.
Islanders Ssese won away from home 1-0 to Mawogola at the Sembabule town council play ground.
Former winners Bulemeezi smiled to a slim 1-0 home victory over Bugerere at the dusty and barren Kasana play ground in Luwero.
Away in Kibibi, Mpigi, Butambala Ssaza played to a non-scoring draw with Busiro.
Similarly, the Kabula and the reigning champions Buddu encounter in Lyantonde failed to produce any goal.
The tournament will continue next weekend.
