Giants KCCA and Express seek first leg advantage in the Uganda Cup semis when they face off at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

The long awaited Cup semi-final is on Friday with the Red Eagles seeking vengeance after losing both ties in the Uganda Premier League against the champions.

The Kasasiro won 3-1 in the league game at Lugogo before they went on to win 1-0 at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku and thus the Red Eagles have a realistic chance to revenge.

Mike Mutebi’s charges go into the game in buoyant mood following a massive 2-1 win over Club Africain in the CAF Confederation Cup, days after being crowned domestic champions and the manager feels this is the right time to face the Red Eagles.

“Like I told you, we had our best performance on Tuesday,” he told a press briefing. “It came at a right time and if we can build on that against our opponents, then we have enough in our armory to win the game,” he added.

His counterpart Matia Lule acknowledges it will be a tough game but it’s important his side picks a decent result to take into the second leg at home.

“The most thing is to pick a result decent enough to bank on at home in the return leg,” he told Kawowo Sports a couple of days ago.
