KCCA coach Mike Mutebi was left impressed by both teams’ display in a five goal thriller at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo in the first leg semi-final of the Uganda Cup.

A double from Geoffrey Sserunkuma and the other from Tom Masiko saw KCCA win 3-2 against goals from Allan Kyambadde and Simon Sserunkuma for the visitors.

“It was brilliant to watch by the fans,” Mutebi said of the game. “But tense for us coaches,” he added as he smiled.

I think the ball was on the pitch for over 70 of the 94 minutes played which is good for the game. The display from both teams was fantastic.

At half time, with KCCA leading 1-0, Mutebi made the first change of the game with Paul Mucureezi coming off for Isaac Kirabira.

Asked what the message was for the change, the outspoken tactician said he wanted a player on the pitch that could play his way as Mucureezi had failed.

He (Mucureezi) all over the place and even messed up Masiko and the young boy (Bukenya). I had to bring on a player to play the way I wanted.

It’s not the first time Mutebi has done that particular change and in the aftermath of a 2-1 win over Club Africain in the CAF Confederation Cup on Tuesday, he lashed out at Mucureezi, a second half substitute for another ‘poor’ display.
