George ‘Best’ Nsimbe start to his Tusker career saw him fail to win five in as many games but the Ugandan tactician seems to have steadied the ship.

The Brewers on Sunday May 28, 2017 won their seventh game in a row to go joint top with Gor Mahia thanks to Jackson Macharia winner against AFC Leopards.

The reigning Kenya Premier League champions are only second to K’Ogalo on the 18-team log because of goal difference.

The two sides are tied on 27 points after 13 games – Gor Mahia has scored 18 goals and conceded just 7 whilst Tusker have managed 17 against 12 which leaves them with an inferior goal difference in comparison to Ze Maria’s charges.

First six league games

Under Nsimbe, a three time Ugandan champions with KCCA, Tusker won just once in six games; 1-0 against Chemelil Sugar.

The Brewers lost to Nzoia United (2-5) and Thika United (2-0) and then drew with Sofapaka (2-2), Ulinzi (1-1) and Gor Mahia (0-0).

Seven in Seven

But since then, Tusker has been brilliant winning five of the seven games without conceding a goal.

Nakumatt (2-1), Muhoroni Youth (1-0), Home Boyz (1-0), Zoo Kericho (2-0), SoNy Sugar (2-1), Mathare United (2-0) and AFC Leopards (1-0) have all been put to the sword.

Nsimbe’s compatriots

Away from Nsimbe, his compatriots in the KPL are also not faring bad. As it stands after 13 games, Sofapaka, coached by Sam Ssimbwa stands 6th with 20 points whilst Paul Nkata coached Bandari are now 8th with 18 points.
