Despite a rocky start, UCU Lady Canons made light work of National Basketball League new comers Lioness on Friday evening at Lugogo.

The defending champions dispatched Lioness 56-27 thanks to a big third quarter in which they scored 21 points and a defensively solid fourth quarter in which the allowed just 4 points.

While they scored just 18 in the first half splitting it equally in the frames, Lady Canons turned up the heat in the third ignited by Ritah Imanishimwe’s 3-pointer.

Guard Ritah Imanishimwe who barely rested in the contest led the charge with points 13 points backed by Annet Among’s 11 points.

Annet Among and Loraine Akiny cleaned the glass for the university side pulling down 16 and 12 rebounds respectively.

Annet Nakiwu led Lioness with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Robinah Nkabidwa added 8 points.
