Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga edged Olila High School 3-2 in post-match penalties to finish third in the 2017 FUFA Women Elite League.

National team winger Fazila Ikwaput gave Olila a first half lead as they took command of the game at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium on Sunday.

Exciting Uganda Martyrs’ play maker, Lillian Mutuuzo who had run rings around the opposition for long spells of the game finally got the equalizer 10 minutes to full time.

Referee Shamilah Nabadda called for full time and penalties.

Fazila Ikwaput and Riticia Nabbosa scored Olila’s only kicks as Cissy Nantongo, Miriam Ibungu and Willian Nantumbwe missed.

Shadia Nankya, Lillian Mutuuzo and Esther Naluyimba were on target for the victorious side to counter Sarah Ndikirize, Sarah Nakuye and Winnie Nakanwagi’s earlier losses.

It was the first time that Uganda Martyrs were taking part in the Women Elite League.

Meanwhile, Kawempe Muslim claimed their third successive victory after overcoming UCU Lady Cardinals 4-0 in a one sided final.

Juliet Nalukenge scored a brace in the 33rd and 57th minutes before Sharon Naddunga’s 78th minute goal and a late strike from second half substitute Favour Nambatya crowned the red letter day for the champions.
