Kirinya-Jinja SSS and Jinja SSS striker Joel Madondo has been named the Busoga Sports Press Association Sports Personality of the month of May.
The striker scooped the award on Wednesday at Kobil Restaurant in Jinja following his rich vein of form exhibited during last month’s Copa Schools tournament in Masaka.
Madondo netted 13 goals and came out with five assists to steer Jinja SSS to their maiden Copa trophy. The striker overcame competition from teammates Isaac Mubikire and Ivan Wani -the MVP at the tournament- to scoop the ward with 23 votes.
The Association named Jinja SSS as their team of the month ahead of Jinja SSS Girls’ Cricket team and Danida FC- winners of the fourth division.
Jinja SSS edged Kitende 4-3 on penalties in the finals of Copa after a one-all draw in normal time to claim their maiden trophy.
Kirinya-Jinja SSS shot-stopper Tom Ikara won the inaugural award as he bagged the April award.
