Even with all their achievements in the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup over the years, KCCA FC has never won both in the same season.

However, the Kasisiro will have a chance to change that when they play in the 2017 Uganda Cup final on Thursday, June 15 at the Green Light Stadium in Arua.

The Uganda Premier League champions will face FUFA Big League side Paidha Black Angels in this year’s final and skipper Denis Okot wants to open a new chapter at the club by winning a double.

Okot told the club website: “It will be a good feeling to win the cup final, for so many reasons.

“We have already secured the league, which we defended successfully. Winning a double would open a new chapter in the history of KCCA FC, something the club has never done.”

While Paidha will be playing in their first Cup final, KCCA will be playing in their sixteenth final but have not seen glory in the last four finals with the most recent being the 3-0 loss to SC Villa in 2015 at Namboole.

KCCA has already registered several milestones this term that include playing at the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup but to Okot, the focus is now on the Cup final.

“Much as we are very proud of what we achieved, that’s behind us right now. We have a cup final to win and that’s where the focus (is).”
