AFCON 2019 Qualifiers (Group D):

  • Algeria 1-0 Togo

French-based Benin striker Stephane Sessegnon scored lone goal in their 1-0 Group D victory over Gambia in the 2019 AFCON Qualifier at the Stade De L’Amitie De Kouhounou, Cotonou on Sunday.

The Montpelier forward was well positioned to slot the ball into the net 55 minutes into the game.

At the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Bilda, Algeria got off a winning start with a slim 1-0 home win over Tunisia.

Sofiane Hanni, who plays in Belgium with Anderlecht was on target for Lucas Alcaraz’s coached side.

Benin and Algeria jointly lead Group D after match day one.

Togo and Gambia are yet to secure a point coming to match day 2 on 23rd March, 2018.

Togo will host Benin as Gambia will be at home to Algeria.
