At least 1231 football coaches have been educated in Uganda at the various levels over a period of 4 years.

With the current on-going CAF Level ‘C’ class of 38 coaches at FUFA House in Mengo inclusive, over 1200 tacticians have been equipped with football knowledge, tactics, public relations, basic sports medicine, player management, methodologies in training as well as the various match situations, among others.

CAF Instructors led by FUFA president Moses Magogo, Mujib Kasule, Majida Nantanda have been joined by national instructors Stone Kyambadde, Asuman Lubowa and FUFA Education Officer Jackson Nyiima to impart knowledge.

Of these, 165 coaches are CAF license holders at all levels.

There are 42 CAF A license holders, 61 (CAF B) and 62 (CAF C holders)

557 are FUFA Level I certified coaches, 119 (are level 1 unassessed coaches), 197 (CAF C unassessed category).

On Tuesday morning, the latest crop of CAF A and B coaches 27 and 49 respectively received their certificates from Magogo who was accompanied by the federation Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson, Technical Director Lubowa together with the other instructors Natanda, Kymbadde and the education officer at the federation, Nyiima.

Addressing the coaches, Magogo challenged them to implement what has been taught in classes and practical sessions to real coaching world.

“What we want is not the piece of paper you have received but it is the work that we are interested in. So let us try as much as possible to implement what we have learnt and I must confess that there has been general improvement in the quality of football in Uganda.”

Watson, the federation CEO hinted on the vision of FUFA as being the role model association among the CAF 54 members especially in the field of capacity building.

Recently, about 39 coaches graduated with successful beginners’ certificates after a course held at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

Already, early next month there is a CAF B Coaching Course lined up from the 10th to 23rd July 2017 at the FUFA Technical Centre.

  • CAF A– 42 License Holders
  • CAF B- 61 License Holders
  • CAF C-62 License Holders
  • FUFA Level I– 722 certified coaches

Yet to be assessed:

  • FUFA Level One-119 coaches completed the courses but yet to be assessed
  • CAF C-197 completed the course but yet to be assessed
  • CAF B– (Course lined up July 10th-23rd, 2017 at FUFA Technical Centre)
